About

Built by someonewho's been there.

I dealt with addiction and the justice system. I know what it is to start over with nothing but the willingness to work.

The thing nobody tells you is that the hard part isn't only getting clean. It's that you need someone to give you a chance, and most people won't. And it keeps being hard long after the early days. A lot of the time, the moment things finally start going well is the moment it gets dangerous.

What got me through was a safe place to live, work I could be proud of, and people who had been where I was and told me the truth. A safe home and the ability to support yourself are not luxuries. They are where self-respect comes from.

Hard Won exists to give people those three things. If you're reading this and thinking, this guy knows exactly how I feel: you're right. Reach out.
